Best sushi I have ever had. Love coming here. Everyone is always friendly. Chefs greeting you from the back as you walk in the door, awesome.

Awesome vibe in the store, friendly staff, efficient service, and the sushi is so good. Best sushi in Airdrie for sure, and the in store iced tea is super good. I'll always come to Sushi Haruhi to get my sushi fix.

Used to be my go - to. Sadly new management has come in and it's just not the same. It's passable but just not what it used to be.

We have been coming to Sushi Haru for years and the drive from Calgary is worth it. The staff, especially Frank, is excellent. The quality of the food is outstanding - the sashimi is thick slices and fresh!

Sushi Haru is under new ownership, and Frank and his wife are no longer there. The new staff are nice and trying their best, but the service and quality of food need a lot of improvement. To go into more detail:

We were lead to our table quickly, but the waitress did not return to take our order for about ~10 minutes.

It then took ~25 minutes for our food to arrive, in which time, one table who were seated after us had received their food, paid and left. This is about ~35 minutes of waiting, with two small children and my in-laws. I love my in-laws, but 40 minutes of waiting with children losing their patience gets awkward.

The food, after asking if they forgot about us, was... Bad. And I'm trying to be as unbiased as I can. I fully acknowledge that my taste might have been soured by the poor experience thus far, but believe me. It was bad. We ordered a few staples, Tempura, Deluxe Sashimi, California Rolls for the kids, and a few others. When it did arrive, they forgot to supply us with wasabi and soy-sauce.

My first observation was that the rolls where not evenly cut, and quite large in size, taking away from it's elegance. As for the following, I wasn't looking for things to be wrong. They just kept presenting themselves...

I snuck a California Roll from my kid, and it was generous on the mayonnaise. The gunkanmaki also had too much mayonnaise. Some sashimi was chewy, and some was tough. We ordered a cooked lobster roll which was nice, but there was a piece of lobster shell in it.

We had to ask again for the tempura, as they missed it on the order. When it arrived... It was over-battered. It was worse with the broccoli, as the batter had soaked through all the little branches. With that much volume of batter, the batter itself was not fully cooked and had a mushy soft texture to it. It was awful. Everything else on the tempura dish was similar, but to a lesser scale.

The new owner and Chef tried to appease us with two new dishes, on the house. I appreciated the gesture, but the experience was already too much.

My family and I will miss Frank, his wife (whom I wish I knew her name!) and team. They loved on our children and their food was light and delicious. I wish them well in their retirement and hope they have a long time to enjoy it together.

In contrast, the new owners are nice but still have a lot of kinks to work out. The food was heavy, over-mayonnaised, soggy and bland. I wish them well and I hope the quality improves if they plan to keep the same name, but I will not be stepping back in there, nor would I recommend it for anyone to venture. I give it 2 Stars for the effort, but really, it deserves only one... :(
